Men's Golf Eighth at Gulf Coast Collegiate Classic

BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. - Freshman Bradley Farmer shot a 36-hole total of 148 in his first collegiate event to finish 11th and Samford University's men's golf team placed eighth at the Gulf Coast Collegiate Classic at The Bridges golf course. Farmer (148) paired a 76 on Tuesday with his opening round of 72 to lead the Bulldogs and finish 12 strokes behind the leader, New Orleans' Kevin Maxwell (136). Sophomore Andy McRae finished 23rd with a two-round total of 152, and seniors Russell Kelly (154) and Mike Clements (157) finished 26th and 37th, respectively. Stephen Twelkemeier (166) rounded out the Bulldog roster at 57th. McRae was the only Bulldog to improve his score in the second round. As a team the Bulldogs slipped four spots from Monday's finish to eighth for the tournament. Samford (611) finished ahead of Lipscomb (616), Tennessee-Martin (628), Birmingham-Southern (634) and Jackson State (637). Louisiana Tech won the team title with a 583, followed by Chattanooga (594), New Orleans (596), North Alabama (597), Centenary (598), host Nicholls State (604), and Tennessee State (608) ahead of the Bulldogs.
