Men's Golf Struggles in Rd. 1 of A-Sun Championship

DEER ISLAND, Fla. - Andy McRae shot a one-over-par 73 to finish seven strokes behind the leader and the Bulldogs posted a team score of 302 to place 11th in the first round of the 2002 Atlantic Sun Men's Golf Championship at the Deer Island Golf Club. McRae shot 39-34 to lead the Bulldogs in 21st position. Campbell's Simon Dunn fired a six-under-par 66 to lead the individual standings, while the Camels also lead the team standings with an eight-under-par 280. Georgia State and Jacksonville State are tied for second with rounds of 286, followed by UCF (289) and Stetson (291) in the Top 5. For the Bulldogs, Seth Mobley fired 74, Bradley Farmer shot 75, Mike Clements added an 80 and Russell Kelly shot 86. Other team scores include Mercer (295), Jacksonville (297), Troy State (298), Florida Atlantic (301), Belmont (301) and Samford (302).
Rounds two and three will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday at the 6,670-yard, par-72 Deer Island Golf Club.
