Men's Golf 10th at Tri-State Classic

PICKWICK DAM, Tenn. - Russell Kelly fired the low round of 76 for the Bulldogs and finished in a tie for 26th with Seth Mobley on Tuesday and Samford finished 10th in the 13-team field at the Tri-State Classic at Pickwick State Park. The Bulldogs (620) began Tuesday's round in seventh place but slipped three spots with a final round of 312. Bryan Johnson of SEMO was the tournament medallist, shooting an even-par 144 to win by one stroke. For Samford, Mobley shot 77 to tie with Kelly at 153, followed by Mike Clements (154) at 30th, Bradley Farmer (160) at 54th and Andy McRae (161) at 56th. Tennessee Tech claimed the team title with a 591, winning by four strokes over second-place Morehead State (595). Host Tennessee-Martin finished third (604), followed by North Alabama (606) and S.E. Missouri State (608) in the Top 5. The remainder of the 13-team field finished as follows: Belmont (609), UMKC (611), Murray State (613), Lipscomb (613), Samford (620), Lewis (621), St. Louis (623) and Centenary (628).
The Bulldogs return to action April 1-2 at the Amoco Ultimate-Young Oil Intercollegiate, hosted by Jacksonville State University at the Silver Lakes Golf Course.
