Samford Men's Golf Finishes Third at Mercer Invitational

MACON, Ga. - Andy McRae recorded a two-day total of 152 and Samford shot 619 as a team to finish third at the Mercer Invitational hosted by Mercer University Monday and Tuesday. It was the men's team first tournament of the spring season.

Samford finished 10 strokes behind first place Tennessee Tech (609) and eight strokes behind second place High Point (611).

The Bulldogs shot a 311 to finish tied for second after Monday's first round, but High Point shot a 300 on Tuesday, which was eight strokes ahead of Samford to claim sole possession of second place.

McRae led the Bulldogs by posting rounds of 77 and 75. Russell Kelly finished two strokes back with a 154. Bradley Farmer shot 156 and Mike Clement shot 157. Seth Mobley's 161 finished off the team scoring for Samford.

Jace Gordon (162) and Brax Watkins (164) also participated in the tournament for the Bulldogs.

Samford will next be in action March 4-5 when the team competes in the Tri-State Classic hosted by UT-Martin.
