BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford football team worked out for about two hours Tuesday afternoon at Seibert Stadium. The Bulldogs are preparing for Saturday's game against Jacksonville State.

"We have our hands full, they are a good football team," Samford head coach Bill Gray said. "We can't turn the ball over and expect to have a chance, and we have to play better on defense."

Gray said he was impressed with what he had seen from Jacksonville State.

"They have a tailback (Clay Green) that is as good as anybody in the conference," Gray said. "Their quarterback (Maurice Mullins) is a very good talent. Defensively, they are physical, and they fly to the football. It will be a big test for our guys. We will be excited, and there will be a good crowd. We have played pretty well at home, and we need to play well one more time."

Samford will practice again on Wednesday at 3:45 p.m. Saturday's game is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. kickoff from Seibert Stadium. The game can be heard locally on WVSU-FM 91.1, or worldwide on the internet at www.samfordsports.com or www.al.com/wvsu.
