BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford football team worked out in helmets Thursday afternoon at Seibert Stadium. The practice was the final full practice for Saturday afternoon's Ohio Valley Conference game against Tennessee Tech.

Samford enters the game with a record of 3-6 overall and 1-5 in the OVC after a 29-7 loss at Tennessee State last week. Tennessee Tech is currently 2-6 overall and 2-3 in conference play after a 17-10 overtime loss to Jacksonville State.

"Tennessee Tech, first of all, they do a great job of coaching," Samford offensive coordinator Allen Rudolph said. "Their players line up and play extremely hard on every down. They have some very talented players on defense. They are a team that is going to come in here and play very sound and very hard."

Samford and Tennessee Tech are meeting for the 21st time with Samford holding an 11-9 advantage in the series. Last season, Tennessee Tech defeated Samford, 42-21 in Cookeville, Tenn. The first meeting in the series came on Nov. 10, 1934, with Samford (then Howard College) winning, 26-0 in Cookeville. The teams have played every season since 1988 with the exception of 2001 when the game was cancelled due to the Sept. 11 attacks.

Samford will hold a final walk-through Friday afternoon at 4:15 p.m. Saturday's game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff from Seibert Stadium.
