Football Moves Inside For Wednesday Practice
Nov. 1, 2006 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford football team had to move most of Wednesday's practice inside due to inclement weather in the Birmingham area. The Bulldogs spent the majority of the practice in Bashinsky Fieldhouse. "We were able to get some good work in," Samford head coach Bill Gray said. "We had a good mental day. We needed to get some things ironed out and I think we did that. We are expecting to have a good showing on Senior Day." Saturday's game will be the final home game for Samford's 17 seniors. Gray said the group of seniors on this year's team is a group that will be missed after this season. "This group has been resilient," Gray said. "They were the first really large class we were able to sign, and I think when you have 17 of them finishing up it shows that, for the most part, they bought in to what we wanted them to do. The stayed and they realized what an outstanding place to get an education Samford University is." The 17 seniors on the 2006 football team are: Jeff Bennett, Josh Brennard (captain), Andrew Childers, Matt Crum, David Fisher, Quinton Griffin, Chris Hicks, Calvin Hodge, Houston Holmes, Graham Lemmond (captain), Chase McTorry, T.C. Myers (captain), Justin Ray, Steve Tennin, Clyde Triplett, Jonathan Vance and Freddy Young (captain). Samford will practice again Thursday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. at Seibert Stadium. Saturday's game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff from Seibert Stadium.
