Samford's Jonathan Clark (Carbon Hill, Ala.) was named the Defensive Player of the Week after recording nine tackles, two fumble recoveries, a fumble return for a touchdown, one tackle for loss, and a caused fumble. Clark caused and returned a fumble 54 yards for Samford's second score in the 31-8 win over Tennessee-Martin. He also led the team in tackles for the fourth time this season.

The Division I-AA Independents include: Cal Poly, Cal State Northridge, Charleston Southern, Elon, Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb. Liberty, Morris Brown, Saint Mary's (CA), Samford, Savannah State and Southern Utah.
