Football Works On Corrections From Tennessee-Martin
Football Game Notes
Oct. 23, 2006 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford football team practiced for about an hour Monday afternoon in helmets at Seibert Stadium. The Bulldogs worked on corrections from Saturday's 10-6 loss to Tennessee-Martin. "They continue to come out here with the attitude of `we're going to play football today and not worry about yesterday'," Samford head coach Bill Gray said. "That's what we asked them to do today, and that is what they did." Gray said he was pleased with the way the defense performed in last week's game, holding the top scoring offense in the Ohio Valley Conference to just 10 points. "I was very pleased with the way the defense played," Gray said. "You always want to find a way to get better, and defensively we had a couple of plays where we just didn't do what we've been taught to do and that created big plays for them. But, I was very pleased that they continued to give us a chance to win the football game. "Offensively, it was just a case of missed opportunities," Gray said. "We had opportunities to win the football game and didn't take advantage of them. The film today was tough for them to watch because they saw how close they were to beating the No. 16 team in the country." This week, Samford will play at Tennessee State. The game is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. kickoff from Nashville's LP Field. The Bulldogs will practice again Tuesday at 3:45 p.m. at Seibert Stadium.
