Sept. 17, 2009
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford football team practiced for about an hour and a half in shells Thursday afternoon at Seibert Stadium. The practice was the Bulldogs' final full work out in preparation for Saturday's home game against Miles College. Samford head coach Pat Sullivan said Saturday's game against the Golden Bears is one he and his players are looking forward to. "We have Miles coming in this week and we're excited about them," Sullivan said. "I know Coach Joe has done a tremendous job, he's had a lot of good, young players come in over there. "They're quarterback (Carlton Hill) is a really exciting guy," Sullivan said. "They have a lot of speed and size. When you put those things together, you can have a good football team. Hopefully the weather will stay good and we will have a good crowd and a good football game." Sullivan said he hopes this will be a game that the people of Birmingham will support. "Hopefully, Birmingham will take a lot of pride in this game and we will have a big crowd," Sullivan said. Samford will hold a final walk-through for the game Friday afternoon. The walk-through is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Seibert Stadium. Saturday's game against Miles is scheduled for a 2 p.m. kickoff from Seibert Stadium.
