Football Holds Final Full Practice For Faulkner

Sept. 4, 2008

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford football team practiced for about an hour and a half in shorts and helmets Thursday afternoon at Seibert Stadium. The workout was the final full practice for the Bulldogs in preparation for Saturday's home game against Faulkner.

"I thought today was a little sloppy," Samford head coach Pat Sullivan said. "It's a good thing we didn't play today. We've had a good week of practice, and then we put the shorts on today and they just kind of went through the motions, and we can't play that way."

Sullivan said the coaching staff has named the captains for this week's game. The defensive captains are senior linebacker Quinton Smith and senior defensive back Kyle Morton.

Offensively, the captains will be senior fullback Adrian Bradley and junior offensive lineman Paul Selmon. The special teams captain will be redshirt freshman Jordan Lewis.

"These guys have all shown leadership. Adrian and Paul are both from the Prattville and Montgomery area where Faulkner is," Sullivan said. "Quinton has been a leader and Kyle, of course made the big play last week on defense. Jordan has really done a nice job on special teams."

The Bulldogs will hold a final walk-through Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. at Seibert Stadium.

Saturday night's game against Faulkner is scheduled for a 6 p.m. kickoff from Seibert Stadium. The game can be heard live on the Samford Football Radio Network. The flagship station for the network is WVSU-FM 91.1. The game can also be heard worldwide on the internet at www.samford.edu/groups/wvsu/.
