Red Tops Blue in 2002 Dog Games
May 16, 2002 On the final day of the 2002 Samford Football Dog Games, the Red team won three of the final four events and claimed the overall victory by a final score of 2,833 to 2,587.5. Overall Red claimed seven of the 10 events to win the games, forcing the Blue team into roles as cooks and servers at the Red/Blue Cookout on Thursday afternoon. Events in the final day of competition included the bench press, 40-yard dash, 10-yard sprint and shuttle run. In the bench press competition, Blue's Jason Ogletree and Red's Brad Baker tied with three repetitions of 335 pounds, and the Blue squad edged Red 167 to 162 in the event. Red claimed the 40-yard dash 337 to 283.5, despite Blue's John Williams setting the best mark with a time of 4.4 seconds. In the 10-yard sprint Red's Efrem Hill was best with a time of 1.46 seconds, and Red won the event by a total of 411 to 352. Red wrapped up the games with the shuttle title by a margin of 411.5 to 386, despite the best time of 4.08 set by Blue captain Aryvia Holmes. 2002 DOG GAMES FINAL RESULTS
