Football To Hold Final Spring Scrimmage Thursday At 6 p.m.

April 23, 2008

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford football team will wrap up spring practice with its final scrimmage Thursday at 6 p.m. at Seibert Stadium. Admission to the scrimmage is free.

The scrimmage will be the third scrimmage of the spring for the Bulldogs. The team previously held scrimmages on April 12 and again on April 18.

In the April 12 scrimmage, the running game had a strong showing. Harris Johnson rushed six times for 50 yards and two touchdowns. Chris Evans rushed seven times for 45 yards, Marcus Rice rushed four times for 25 yards and Alex Barnett had seven rushes for 35 yards.

On April 18, quarterback Richie Fordham threw a pair of touchdown passes. He tossed one touchdown pass to Jacobi Rodriguez and the other to DeMarcus Covington.

The scrimmage wraps up the second spring for head coach Pat Sullivan and his staff. The Bulldogs are preparing for their first season in the Southern Conference after spending the last five years in the Ohio Valley Conference.
