Football Readies For Final Spring Scrimmage
April 23, 2007 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford football team held its final practice Monday night before the final spring scrimmage, scheduled for Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. at Seibert Stadium. Head Coach Pat Sullivan said the scrimmage would be a controlled workout for the Bulldogs. "It will be basically the same type of scrimmage as our first two," Sullivan said. "It will be a controlled scrimmage, and we'll try to get about 90 plays in. We'll try to get everybody some work, and it will give us one more opportunity to practice and work on some situations we need to work on." Nearing the end of his first spring as Samford's head coach, Sullivan said he likes the progress his team has made. "I don't think there is any question we have improved," Sullivan said. "Their effort has been good all spring. Mentally, now, they have been doing everything for 14 practices, so they have gotten better at that. "It has been a good spring, and I just hope we can get through one more physical day without getting anyone hurt," Sullivan said. Thursday night's scrimmage is open to the public. Drawings will be held for several prizes that will be given away at the scrimmage. Admission to the scrimmage is free.
