Football Holds Final Practice Before Last Spring Scrimmage

April 22, 2008

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford University football team held its final practice before its last scrimmage of the spring season. The Bulldogs worked out in shells for about two hours and one half on Tuesday afternoon.

Although the student-athletes donned shoulder pads, the workout was similar to a shorts and helmets practice - very basic and light.

"We are about to round out the spring with our last scrimmage on Thursday, so there were just a few things we wanted to make sure we covered before we got into it," Samford head coach Pat Sullivan said.

The Bulldogs spent a good chunk of the time focusing on kicking and special teams. Sullivan and his Bulldogs wanted to fine tune some things before having one last shot at simulated game play this spring. The coaching staff and the squad are excited about what they will see on Thursday.

"The biggest thing about this scrimmage is its one more time for us to go live," Sullivan said. "We've had a good spring so far and I'd like for them to be in a game-type situation one more time."

Samford will scrimmage for the final time in the spring season this Thursday, April 24, at Seibert Stadium. Admission is free and kick-off is at approximately 6 p.m.
