Football Returns To Practice In Shells
April 18, 2007 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The Samford football team returned to practice with a workout in shells Wednesday afternoon at Seibert Stadium. "Well, practice wasn't as good today as it has been in the past couple of weeks," Samford head coach Pat Sullivan said," but it was more of a learning practice today. They weren't in full pads and that makes a bit of difference." Sullivan added that the team has progressed immensely during the spring season and he looks to get some players back onto the field in the future. "We've come miles from where we started at the beginning of the spring, just like we should have," said Sullivan. "We aren't where we want to be yet, but I don't expect us to be there yet. We have to get some of these guys back that are a little nicked up and get them in here to work." Sullivan said he is proud of the way many of the Bulldogs have stepped up since Samford started spring practice, but two particular Bulldogs caught his eye in Wednesday's practice. "Today, I think Dante Williams did some great things," Sullivan said. "I also think Jonathan Lowery has stepped up and made some plays recently. Overall, there have been several people who have really made some good progress, but those two were the ones that showed a little something today." Samford will practice again Friday afternoon at 3:45 p.m. at Seibert Stadium.
