Football Set For Friday Scrimmage At 3 p.m.

April 17, 2008

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford football team will hold its second scrimmage of spring practice Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. at Seibert Stadium.

Samford will scrimmage for about two hours on Friday before taking the weekend off from practice.

The Bulldogs held their first scrimmage last Saturday, with the running game having an impressive performance. Harris Johnson rushed six times for 50 yards and two touchdowns. Chris Evans rushed seven times for 45 yards, Marcus Rice rushed four times for 25 yards and Alex Barnett rushed seven times for 35 yards.

The Samford defense also came up with two interceptions in the scrimmage, with Omar Johnson and Erik Peterson picking off one pass each.

In special teams, Mark Prevost made all three extra-point tries, and he was 2-for-3 on field goals.

Friday's scrimmage will be the 13th workout of the spring for the Bulldogs. The team will practice again on Tuesday, April 22, and it will wrap up spring practice with a scrimmage on Thursday, April 24, at 6 p.m. at Seibert Stadium.
