Football Preps For First Scrimmage With Full-Pad Practice
April 9, 2008
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford football team practiced for about two hours Wednesday night at Seibert Stadium. The Bulldogs worked out in full pads in preparation for their first scrimmage which will be held on Saturday, April 12. Samford head coach Pat Sullivan was very pleased with how practice went Wednesday night and how hard the team has been working. "I though practice was great," Sullivan said. "It wasn't polished but the way they are working hard, and their attitude, is good. They flew around tonight." Sullivan has been impressed with several groups of players as he has seen their progress throughout spring practice. "I thought the quarterbacks as a whole, all of them made some good plays tonight," Sullivan said. "Jonathan Lowery made a couple of good plays which was good to see him do. On defense, our linebackers - Bryce Smith, Rumiko Forrester and Rodney Shepherd are all doing a good job," Sullivan said. "I think our linebackers have really had a good spring." Samford will hold one more practice before playing in its first scrimmage. The Bulldogs will practice in shorts and helmets Thursday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. Then, Samford's first spring scrimmage will be Saturday, April 12, at 10 a.m., at Seibert Stadium.
