April 5, 2007

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford football team will hold its first full scrimmage of the 2007 spring season Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at Seibert Stadium.

First-year head coach Pat Sullivan said he is looking forward to seeing how his team would do in its first scrimmage.

"The biggest thing you want them to do is get out here and play ball," Sullivan said. "You're looking for effort and intensity, and you're looking for who is going to make plays. You can put them in situations (in practice), but when they actually get out in a scrimmage, you see who will rise to the top."

The Bulldogs have held six practices so far this spring, with the last four practices in full pads. The team also has scrimmages scheduled for April 14, 20 and 26.

After Friday's scrimmage, the team will take the weekend off for Easter, and will return to practice on Monday, April 9, with a 7:00 p.m. practice.
