BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford football team continued spring practice with a workout in full pads Wednesday afternoon at Seibert Stadium. Wednesday's practice lasted just under two hours.

Head Coach Pat Sullivan said he has liked the way his team has worked so far this spring, his first as Samford's head coach.

"They have worked so hard," Sullivan said. "I couldn't be more pleased with the effort. Obviously, we are not polished, but we have had a very physical spring so far. I have been excited about the guys."

Sullivan said the players have made progress in adjusting to the new system during the first six practices of the spring.

"I think we have gotten better every day as far as that is concerned," Sullivan said. "We have enough (of their system) in to let them work, but we don't have everything in on either side of the ball."

Sullivan said he has seen some good things out of each of the team's quarterbacks so far this spring.

"They've all had their good days," Sullivan said. "Jefferson Adcock, the senior, has really done some nice things. Alex Mortensen has come on the last couple of days. Seth Harkness has a lot of ability, he just hasn't done some of the things that his ability will allow him to do yet, and we have to see that. Chris Legette has done some good things. Dante Williams, I couldn't be more pleased with him, he has had a lot of good days for us.

"They've worked awfully hard, and hopefully they will separate themselves," Sullivan said. "I like where they are right now, and they all show promise."

The Bulldogs will hold their first scrimmage of the spring on Friday afternoon at Seibert Stadium.

"The biggest thing you want them to do is get out here and play ball," Sullivan said. "You're looking for effort and intensity, and you're looking for who is going to make plays. You can put them in situations (in practice), but when they actually get out in a scrimmage, you see who will rise to the top."

Friday's scrimmage is set for a 3:15 p.m. start from Seibert Stadium.
