BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford football team practiced for about two hours in shorts and helmets Wednesday afternoon at Seibert Stadium. The practice was the final tune-up before the team's first day in full pads, which is scheduled for Friday afternoon.

The spring season is the first for new head coach Pat Sullivan and his staff. Spring practice will conclude with a scrimmage on April 26.

The Bulldogs opened Thursday's practice at 3:45 p.m., working on field goals. The team then worked on punt coverage.

After a short break, the Bulldogs broke up into position groups for the next several periods. After the individual position work, Samford worked on the passing game before finishing practice with a 20-minute team session.

Samford has held its first two practices in shorts and helmets, and the Bulldogs will practice in full pads for the first time Friday at 3:45 p.m. All practices will be held at Seibert Stadium.
