March 28, 2007 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford football team held the first spring practice of the Pat Sullivan era Wednesday afternoon at Seibert Stadium. The Bulldogs practiced for about two hours in shorts and helmets. "The effort was very good," Sullivan said. "The guys came out and were excited. Obviously, there was some confusion, some things were different to them. But, overall, I thought it was a good practice. Sullivan said the Bulldogs needed to continue to show the same effort they showed Wednesday throughout the rest of spring practice. "I talked to them at the end about having 14 more days of that kind of enthusiasm," Sullivan said. "We have to correct some mistakes, but it was a good practice." Samford returns seven starters on each side of the ball from the 2006 squad. Wednesday's practice was the first of 15 to be held this spring, which will conclude on April 26. The Bulldogs will practice again Thursday afternoon at 3:45 p.m. in shorts and helmets. The first day of full pads work is scheduled for Friday at 3:45 p.m.
