Football Opens Spring Practice
Feb. 20, 2006 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford football team opened spring practice for 2006 with a two-hour workout in helmets Monday afternoon at Seibert Stadium. "It felt good to be back out," Samford head coach Bill Gray said. "We have a lot of bodies going through spring, which is something we haven't had in the past. We have 20 or 25 more players going through our off-season than we have had, and that gives us a chance to get a lot of things done." Gray added that he was pleased with the way the team worked in its first practice. "It was a good first day," Gray said. "We have a lot of competition at different positions, which is always a positive." The Bulldogs will practice again on Wednesday at 3:45 p.m. at Seibert Stadium. The team's first scrimmage of the spring is scheduled for Saturday at 9:00 a.m., also at Seibert Stadium.
