BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Samford quarterback Jefferson Adcock was recently honored in the HCA-Ohio Valley Conference Student-Athlete Spotlight. The spotlight recognizes student-athletes who are making a difference on the field, in the classroom and in their communities.

Adcock, who recently completed his junior season as a member of Samford's football team, has worked with the Habitat for Humanity and volunteered with Samford's Spring Fling. In addition, he also participated in a charity softball tournament on campus to help raise money for cancer research.

The Brentwood, Tenn., native was named to the OVC's Commissioner's Honor Roll the past two years and to Samford's Dean's List for Fall 2004, Spring 2005 and Spring 2006. He was nominated for the OVC Scholar Athlete of the Year award in 2006.

On the field, Adcock has started 19 of Samford's last 22 games at quarterback. He ranks seventh on Samford's all-time passing list with 3,253 career passing yards. He also ranks sixth on the school's career total offense list with 3,684 career yards of total offense.

As a sophomore in 2005, Adcock finished second in the OVC in passing yards per game (212.5 ypg.) and total offense per game (245.7 ypg.).
