ELON COLLEGE, N.C. (AP) - Derrick Moore rushed for 139 yards and three touchdowns and Beau Wegmann kicked three field goals as Elon beat Samford 43-21 on Saturday.

The Phoenix (5-2) led 27-0 at halftime after scoring runs of 7 and 8 yards by Moore, who also threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Arketa Banks. Wegmann hit field goals of 32 and 19 yards in the half.

Elon increased its lead to 33-0 on a 2-yard run by Raschard Buie with 13:58 left in the third quarter, but Samford's Gary Reed returned the ensuing kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown.

Moore responded with a 57-yard touchdown run to boost the lead to 40-7 midway through the third period, and Wegmann added a 37-yard field goal with 2:16 left in the period.

Thomas Brown narrowed the final margin for Samford (3-4) with a 21-yard scoring pass to Adrian Horstead and a 3-yard touchdown run with 36 seconds left in the game. Brown completed 10 of 15 passes for 96 yards.
