High School:Hassel played on the 2002 Florida state championship team and was on the 2003 team that finished as the state runner up. He led his team in yards per carry (7.5), yards per reception (21.1) and kickoff return yards (32). Hassel was a three-sport letterman. He was a member of the 2002 state championship baseball team, and he was a 2003 All-State performer in track.
