James Carlson Hometown: Warner Robins, Ga. High School: Northside Position: Football Equip./Facilities Coordinator

James Carlson is in his eighth season as Samford's football equipment coordi­nator, and he is in his fourth season as football facilities coordinator.

Carlson oversees all aspects of the football equipment room. He orders and maintains all equipment for the football team. He also organizes and oversees transport of all football equipment for road games, and ­handles the coaches' sideline communication.

In his role as football facilities coordi­nator, Carlson coordinates the use and ­security of Seibert Stadium.

In the spring of 2009, Samford won Samford's Support Staff of the Year Award at the school's inuagural SAMSPYS Awards.

Before joining the Samford staff, Carlson spent three seasons as the football equipment manager and video coordinator at Henderson State University, where he handled day-to-day operations of the equipment room, film breakdown and computer scouting.

At Henderson State, he worked for two seasons under former Samford Offensive Coordinator Doug Meacham and former Assistant Coach Patrick Nix.

Carlson, a native of Warner Robins, Ga., is a member of the National Equipment Manager's Association.
