Men's Basketball Hosting Morehead State
Dec. 20, 2001 Friday's game is the last of three Samford home games in five days this week. Samford defeated FAU 68-66 in overtime on Monday and UCF 59-58 on Wednesday. Samford enters the game 2-3 in non-conference games but with momentum from those wins, while Morehead State lost 90-81 in overtime on Wednesday at IUPUI. Samford won the only meeting with Morehead State last season, a 63-59 victory in Morehead, Ky., on Dec. 8, 2000. The last time Samford began a season 4-0 in conference play was the 1998-99 season, when the Bulldogs collected 13 straight conference wins and advanced to their first NCAA Tournament. THE COACHES Samford Head Coach Jimmy Tillette enters the game with a 80-47-0 record in his fifth season with the Bulldogs. Tillette is 1-0 vs. the Eagles, and he posts a 28-25 mark in non-conference play. He led the Bulldogs to a Trans America Athletic Conference (now Atlantic Sun) regular season and tournament championship in 1998-99 and a TAAC tournament championship in 1999-2000. The Bulldogs also appeared in the NCAA Tournament in 1999 and 2000. Morehead State Head Coach Kyle Macy is 42-75 in his fifth season at MSU and as a head coach. Last season Macy guided the Eagles to a 9-18 mark and a 4-14 record in the Ohio Valley Conference. INJURY REPORT All players available
