Samford Men Travel to Florida Atlantic on Thursday

SAMFORD: Samford enters the game trying to snap a two-game losing streak against the A-Sun South. The Bulldogs are in fourth place in the North with a 3-4 record but remain just two games behind 1st place Belmont. Samford has shot 100% from the free throw line in its last two games. The Bulldogs were 14-14 against Mercer and 6-6 against Troy State. Tyson Dorsey has had at least one three-pointer in 10 straight games. He leads the team and is third in the A-Sun in made three pointers per game. Phillip Ramelli leads Samford averaging 11.1 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. Ramelli is 5th in the A-Sun in FG percentage at 58 percent. FLORIDA ATLANTIC: The Owls upset Miami 74-73 on Dec. 3, but since then they have dropped 11 of their last 12. Earnest Crumbley leads the team in scoring at 16.8 ppg. He is 61-165 (37%) from three-point range and averages 3.2 made three's per game. He is also an 83 percent free throw shooting connecting on 62-75 FT's this season. Jeff Cowans is averaging 14.3 ppg. He is an 84% (46-55) free throw shooter. The rest of the team shoots just 57.2% (139-243) from the stripe. Crumbley and Cowans account for 44% of the Owls offense and are a combined 90-244 (36.8%) from three-point range while the rest of the team is 35-114 (30.7%). FAU has only played four home games this season and are 3-1 at FAU Arena
INSIDE STUFF: The Bulldogs are 9-1 all time against Florida Atlantic and are 4-1 in Boca Raton. The Owls lone win in the series came 60-54 on Jan. 3, 1998. Since then, the Bulldogs have won seven straight in the series. Three of the 10 games have gone to overtime with Samford winning all of them. The Bulldogs took last year's meetings 68-66 in overtime in Birmingham and 68-50 in Boca Raton.
