Men's Basketball Hosts Conference Rival Georgia State
Jan. 18, 2002 Saturday's game is the 42nd meeting between Samford and Georgia State, with the Panthers holding a 22-19 advantage overall. Georgia State is 10-9 in Birmingham, which includes the 73-62 win over Samford in Seibert Hall last season. GSU has won the last three meetings and five of the last seven with the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs currently share a 7-2 mark with Jacksonville atop the Atlantic Sun standings, while Georgia State is tied with Belmont at 5-4. Samford comes off a 69-55 win over Campbell on Jan. 17, while Georgia State lost at Jacksonville State 81-75. GSU won all three meetings with the Bulldogs last season, winning 64-50 and 66-56 in Atlanta and 73-62 in Birmingham. Chris Weaver leads the Bulldogs in scoring with 13.8 ppg, while five Panthers average in double figures, led by Thomas Terrell (20.4 ppg).
