Men's Hoops Hosts Campbell on Thursday, Jan. 17
Jan. 16, 2002 Thursday's game features teams at opposite ends of the spectrum so far this season. The Bulldogs and the Camels have tipped it off 14 times in a series dating back to 1979, with Samford holding an 10-4 overall advantage. The Bulldogs are 6-1 in Birmingham, and have won seven of the last eight meetings overall and the last six in Birmingham. Samford swept the Camels last season, winning 76-61 in Buies Creek and 63-49 at Seibert Hall. The last time Campbell defeated Samford was a 58-55 win on Feb. 3, 2000, in Buies Creek, and Campbell's only win in Birmingham was a 82-75 victory in overtime on Feb. 9, 1980. Campbell has scored more than 62 points only twice in eight games in Birmingham, and have been held to an average of 50 points per game in the last five meetings. Sebastian Sachse scored 22 points against Campbell in the Bulldog win in Buies Creek last year, while Corey Green scored 16 and Chris Weaver added 11 in the Samford win in Birmingham.
