SAMFORD: Samford snapped a six-game losing streak at Campbell on Thursday and will try to make it two in a row against a Gardner-Webb team that has lost 11 in a row after falling 103-86 to Belmont. This is only the second time these two schools have ever met and the first time in Boiling Springs. Phillip Ramelli scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Samford's first double-double since Feb. 15, 2001. J. Robert Merritt added 13 points and Jon Mills chipped in 11 against Campbell Jon Mills rejoined the starting line up on last week and scored 11 points in his first start since Dec. 14, at Valpo. He added 11 more at Campbell and is averaging 10.1 ppg in his four starts this season. Against Campbell, of the Bulldogs 24 baskets 17 of them were lay-ups. Samford made a season-low five three-pointers. The other two baskets were a Ramelli hook shot and a tip in.

Gardner-Webb: Otis Daniels led five Runnin' Bulldogs in double figures with 19 points in a losing effort against Belmont on Thursday. Daniels leads GW averaging 14.5 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. Chris Wiggins scored 14 points, David Anderson had 12, Josh Chiles had 11, and Andre Manning added 10 points for Garner-Webb who shot 45 percent from the floor against Belmont. However the Bruins shot 58 percent from the floor behind 32 points from Adam Mark and 22 points from Steve Drabyn who made seven three's. Against Belmont, GW scored 61 of its 86 points in the first half and led 61-56 at halftime. Gardner-Webb is 0-12 against Div. I schools this season. There lone victory of the season was against St. Mary's in the second game of the season.

INSIDE STUFF: Tonight's meeting is only the second ever meeting between Samford and Atlantic Sun newcomer Gardner-Webb. The Bulldogs won the only previous meeting 77-62 in Birmingham on Dec. 16, 2001. This is Samford's first trip to Boiling Springs.

NEXT: Samford will return to Birmingham for its second three-game home stand of the season. The home stand will begin with the Atlantic Sun Game of the Week on Fox Sports Net against Georgia State. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. CT on Saturday Jan. 18.
