BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Marc Salyers scored 19 points and had eight rebounds to lead Samford to a 63-49 Trans America Athletic Conference win over Campbell Saturday.

Zydrunas Stankus scored the first points of the game for Campbell and the Fighting Camels led 4-3 early at Seibert Hall, but CU never led again after the 16:19 mark of the first half. The Camels kept the game to within six the entire first period, until Derrick Jones hit a three-pointer that gave Samford a 31-23 lead at halftime. Chris Weaver scored nine of his 11 points in the second half as Samford used a 19-4 run to take its largest lead of the game, 57-38, with 6:48 remaining in the game. Corey Green added 16 points for Samford (12-9, 9-3 TAAC). Jay Carter led the scoring for Campbell (4-17, 2-11) with 14 points. Zydrunas Stankus added 12. Sebastian Sachse had seven rebounds for the Bulldogs.

Samford converted only two of nine three-pointers, which were season lows in made three-pointers and in attempts. The Bulldogs' 79 percent from the free throw line was their best effort since Jan. 8, and Samford recorded 33 rebounds to Campbell's 28, outrebounding an opponent for the fourth time this season. Samford finished the game shooting 47 percent from the field to Campbell's 38 percent. Jones' six points marked only the second time he has scored in single digits this season, while Sachse and Skypala added four points each and Cornell Felton scored three.

Samford takes a two-game road trip to Florida next week, facing Jacksonville on Feb. 8 and Stetson in DeLand on Feb. 10.
