Samford Baseball Program

The History of Samford Baseball dates back to the early 1900's where from time to time there had been varying degrees of success. The program was handed over to Head Coach Casey Dunn in August of 2004 and the new age of Samford Baseball began.

In this short period of time Coach Dunn and his staff, with strong support from their administration, have completely changed the face of the program and the year-to-year level of expectation. A tremendous level of commitment was made to Coach Dunn and the overall program that this would be the time to achieve success in baseball on a national scale.

The first two recruiting classes were nationally ranked by Collegiate Baseball, both classes at the top of the conference. Prior to 2005, no recruiting class in Samford's history had received national recognition. The two classes have produced the two best seasons in the history of Samford Baseball. Prior to the 2006 season, the program had won 31 games once and no more - the team has won 34 and 32 wins the last two seasons. In that time the program that had averaged just over 18 wins a season for 15 years has now averaged 33 a season since those classes arrived on campus. The third class is expected to have the highest ranking of the first three. The facility additions and move to the Southern Conference will only further enhance those efforts. Along the way the following accomplishments have been made the last couple of seasons:

• First Conference Championship ('06 OVC)
• First Nationally Ranked Recruiting Classes ('05 and '06)
• First winning season in almost a decade
• Back to Back Winning seasons for first time since 1965
