Due to unplayable field conditions, Samford has cancelled its Atlantic Sun Conference Baseball Series with Mercer Friday and Saturday at Joe Lee Griffin Field. Rain in the Birmingham area the last couple of days has left Joe Lee Griffin Field under water.

The Bulldogs end the 2003 season 17-34 having great success against their instate rivals. Samford took two games from A-Sun foe Troy State, Jacksonville State and Alabama A&M while splitting with Birmingham-Southern and UAB. The Bulldogs knocked off then No. 21 Alabama in Tuscaloosa for the first time under Head Coach Tim Parenton.

Samford also says good-bye to nine seniors who helped lead the Bulldogs to the A-Sun Tournament in 2002 for the first time under Parenton. The 2003 season marked the end of competition in the Atlantic Sun Conference as Samford moves to the Ohio Valley Conference in all 17 sports beginning Fall 2003.
