Baseball To Host Alabama Tuesday, Play At Georgia State Wednesday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford baseball team will play host to the University of Alabama Tuesday night at 6 p.m. at Joe Lee Griffin Field. The Bulldogs will also play at Georgia State Wednesday evening. Samford enters the game with a record of 27-15 after sweeping three games from Eastern Illinois over the weekend. Alabama is currently 25-21 after winning two of three games from Auburn over the weekend. Georgia State enters the week with a record of 25-18 overall after dropping two of three games to Hofstra last weekend. Samford is led at the plate by Michael Marseco, batting .409 with 37 RBI. Marseco enters the week on a career-long 27-game hitting streak. Michael Rutledge is batting .361 with a team-high 14 doubles and 43 RBI. Bear Burnett leads the team in home runs with six. Jonathan Stephens (7-0, 2.12 ERA) and Michael Jarry (2-2, 4.76 ERA) have led the pitching staff for the Bulldogs. For Alabama, Josh Rutledge leads the team with a .396 batting average. Alex Avila leads the team with 11 home runs and 43 RBI. Josh Copeland (3-2, 1.71 ERA) and Nathan Kilcrease (3-0, 1.85 ERA) have been the Crimson Tide's top pitchers so far this season. Georgia State is led at the plate by Jean-Michel Rochon Salvas, batting .391. Bradley Logan and Mitch Rider share the team lead in home runs with seven. Will Palmer (3-1, 3.39 ERA) and Robinson Polanco (7-3, 3.67 ERA) have led the Panther pitching staff so far.
