Baseball Set To Host Auburn Wednesday Evening At Regions Park

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford baseball team will play host to Auburn Wednesday night at Regions Park. The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start.

Samford is currently 12-7 overall and 3-0 in Ohio Valley Conference play after sweeping a three-game series from Tennessee-Martin over the weekend.

Auburn enters the week with a record of 14-9 overall and 2-4 in the SEC after winning two of three games from second-ranked Kentucky over the weekend. Prior to Wednesday night's game, Auburn will play host to Mercer Tuesday evening.

Samford is led by junior shortstop Michael Marseco, batting .413 with 31 hits and 22 RBI. Marseco was named the OVC's Player of the Week on Monday. Senior outfielder John Morgan is batting .387, while senior third baseman Michael Rutledge is batting .380. Jonathan Stephens (3-0, 2.45 ERA) and David Knapp (3-1, 2.73 ERA) have led the pitching staff so far.

Auburn has been led by Hunter Morris (.386, 4 HR, 21 RBI) and Mike Bianucci (.358, 4 HR, 20 RBI) at the plate so far this season.

Under head coach Casey Dunn, Samford is 3-4 against Auburn. The teams have met at Regions Park the last two seasons, with Samford winning both games.
