Baseball To Play At South Alabama Tuesday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford baseball team will travel to Mobile to take on the South Alabama Jaguars Tuesday evening. Samford enters the game with a record of 3-4 after winning two of three games against Saint Louis over the weekend. The Bulldogs took game one, 11-5. In Saturday's doubleheader, SLU won the first game, 5-4, while Samford took game two, 8-5. Michael Rutledge is currently leading Samford with a .370 batting average. Marcus Rodriguez is hitting .348, Michael Johnson is batting .346 and Michael Marseco is batting .345 for the Bulldogs. South Alabama is 6-3 after winning three of four games against Manhattan over the weekend. USA dropped the first game of the series by a score of 14-11. The Jaguars won the final three games by scores of 13-5, 15-12 and 15-6. Samford and South Alabama last met in 2006, in a three-game series in Mobile. USA swept the series by scores of 16-2, 7-3 and 15-7. Tuesday night's game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start from South Alabama's Stanky Field. After the game at South Alabama, Samford will return home for a three-game series with Miami of Ohio this weekend. The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m., and a single game on Sunday, also at 1 p.m. at Joe Lee Griffin Field.
