MACON, Ga. - Samford's doubleheader with Mercer was cancelled Saturday afternoon due to rain in the area. The Bulldogs were scheduled to play at 1 p.m. but most of Claude Smith Field was covered in water.

The teams will try to get the doubleheader in Sunday afternoon, weather permitting with a first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. Samford leads the series 1-0 after winning game one of the series, 4-1.

Junior first baseman Heath Owen went 2-for-4 with four RBI including a three-run home run.

After this weekend's conference series is over, Samford will host instate rival Auburn Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Joe Lee Griffin Field.
