Baseball Drops 4-0 Decision To Southeast Missouri

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Southeast Missouri's Dustin Renfrow pitched a complete-game shutout to lead the Redhawks' baseball team to a 4-0 win at Samford in the first game of a three-game Ohio Valley Conference series Saturday night at Joe Lee Griffin Field.

With the loss, Samford drops to 16-18 overall and 3-7 in the OVC. SEMO is currently 22-12 overall and 8-2 in conference play.

For Samford at the plate, Michael Marseco and Garrett Rice each went 2-for-4. Josh Ehmke (5-4) pitched the first 3.0 innings, giving up four runs on five hits to take the loss on the mound. David Knapp pitched the final 6.0 innings of the game for Samford, allowing no hits and just one walk.

Omar Padilla was 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI to lead the Redhawks at the plate. Matt Wagner also drove in a run in a 1-for-3 performance. Renfrow struck out six batters, while walking just two in the complete-game victory.

SEMO struck early with a run in the top of the first inning for a 1-0 lead. Wagner singled to right field to drive in Jim Klocke for the first run of the game. The Redhawks put two more runs on the board in the top of the second when Padilla hit a two-run home run for a 3-0 lead. The game's final run was scored in the top of the third inning when Asif Shah scored on a wild pitch for a 4-0 SEMO lead.
