BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders scored six runs in the fourth inning to break open the game on their way to a 9-1 win over the Samford baseball team Tuesday afternoon at Joe Lee Griffin Field.

Samford drops to 2-2 with the loss, while Middle Tennessee improves to 2-2 with the win.

Drew Reagan drove in Samford's lone run with a solo home run, his first of the season. Josh Ehmke pitched the first 3.2 innings, giving up two earned runs on eight hits to take the loss.

Rawley Bishop went 2-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI to lead MTSU at the plate. Matt Ray and Myles Ervin each went 2-for-5 at the plate for the Blue Raiders.

Shay Horseman pitched 6.0 innings, giving up a run on four hits to pick up the win. Matt Yurus pitched the final three innings to pick up the save.

Middle Tennessee plated two runs in the first inning and one in the second to take an early 3-0 lead. Ervin scored the game's first run on a Samford error. The second first-inning run came when Bishop doubled to drive in Wayne Kendrick. The run in the second inning was scored when Drew Robertson singled to center field to drive in Zach Barrett for a 3-0 MTSU lead.

The Blue Raiders pushed their lead to 9-0 with six runs in the fourth inning. Barrett, Ervin, Kendrick and Adam Warren drove in one run each, and Bishop drove in two runs in the inning for the nine-run lead.

Samford scored its lone run of the game with Reagan's homer in the bottom of the sixth inning to make the final score 9-1.
