Cross Country Inks Recruit for '03

Nov. 14, 2002

Lauren Blankenship of the Wesleyan School in Atlanta, Ga., signed a track and cross-country athletic scholarship, coach Glenn McWaters announced Thursday.

Blankenship was undefeated in cross-country competition in 2002 and won the Georgia AA Cross Country Championship for the second year in a row. The Wesleyan team also won the girl's team title.

"Lauren should make an immediate impact on our program," McWaters said. "She is a very talented runner who was not really challenged in any of her meets this fall."

Blankenship won the state meet by 34 seconds, which was the average margin of victory for her throughout the season.
