Samford's Lantz In OVC Student-Athlete Spotlight
Dec. 4, 2006 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- Samford track and field athlete Katie Lantz is in this week's HCA-OVC Student-Athlete Spotlight. The Ohio Valley Conference recognizes student-athletes who are making a difference, on the field, in the classroom and their communities. Lantz is a senior on Samford's track and field team this year. She serves as a Samford Ambassador and has worked with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She has also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity. The Lytton, Iowa, native served as the Community Service Director for Samford's Step Sing, and she has helped collect over 200 pounds of food to be donated to the United Way Food Bank. In addition, she collected supplies and monetary support for Sav-A-Life. Lantz was a volunteer for the Great American Cross Country Festival in Hoover this year, and has also worked with the Harlem Community food Bank and was a service volunteer with The Journey, both in New York. She has been named to the OVC Commissioner's honor roll for the past three years, and was named to the Samford Dean's List for the past four semesters.
