Track and Field Competes In Final Meet Of The Season
May 11, 2007 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The Samford track and field team will compete in its final meet of the 2007 season Friday and Saturday, May 11-12, as they take part in the annual Georgia Tech Invitational at the Georgia C. Griffin Track on the Georgia Tech campus. The Bulldogs will join representatives from over 70 colleges from across the country for the two-day event. The event takes place two weeks before the NCAA Regional in which Lauren Blankenship and Michael Smith will represent Samford University. Blankenship qualified for three events throughout the outdoor season including the 1500-meters, the 5,000-meters, and the 10,000-meters. Smith will compete in the 400-meter hurdles at the event that will be held May 25-26 at the Audrey J. Walton Stadium on the campus of the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo. Competition begins Friday and concludes on Saturday. Live stats from the Georgia Tech Invitational will be provided by Delta Timing and will be available on the official Georgia Tech website.
