BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Samford University will host the 2004 Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the Seibert Stadium Track on Friday, May 7 and Saturday, May 8.

Ten schools will compete for the league's championships, with events beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The finals for the javelin, shot put, long jump, high jump, 3,000-meter steeplechase and 10,000-meter run will be held for both men and women. The preliminaries for all other running events will also be held on Friday.

On Saturday, field events will begin at 9:00 a.m., with the final field event beginning at 1:00 p.m. The Opening Ceremony will be held between the field and running events at 12:00 p.m. Running events on Saturday will begin at 12:10 p.m., and the final event will begin at 3:20 p.m., with the Awards Ceremony scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

Samford and Jacksonville State will be competing in their first OVC Championships after joining the league in the fall. Also competing in the Championships will be Austin Peay, Eastern Illinois, Eastern Kentucky, Morehead State, Murray State, Southeast Missouri State, Tennessee State and Tennessee Tech.
