BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- Samford University senior distance runner Michelle Brewer was named Ohio Valley Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week, following her performance over the weekend at the Auburn Invitational; it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

Brewer finished second overall in the women's 5000-meter run on Saturday at the Auburn Invitational. The senior posted a season-best time of 17:20.52, which leads the OVC. Brewer's time was also a 38 second improvement from her previous season best of 18:02.20.

Brewere and the Bulldogs return to action on May 5, when they head to Cape Girardeau, Mo., for the 2006 OVC Outdoor Championships.
