Samford Track To Compete In Vanderbilt Invitational
April 19, 2007 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The Samford track and field team heads to Nashville, Tenn., this weekend to participate in the Vanderbilt Invitational this Friday and Saturday, April 20-21. The two-day event is the final meet before the Bulldogs gear up for the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championships. The Bulldogs will be joined by athletes from more than 30 universities across the Southeast. Southeastern Conference competitors Alabama and Tennessee are expected to be there along with squads from Middle Tennessee, Western Kentucky, Belmont, Lipscomb, Fisk, and OVC opponents Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech, and Austin Peay. Friday's events begin at 4 p.m. with the men's and women's long jump and javelin and conclude with the men's and women's 5000-meter races. Competition will pick back up Saturday at 9:30 a.m. with the men's and women's hammer throw events. Wrapping up Saturday's events will be the 4x400-meter relays.
