BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- Samford track athlete Michael Smith has been named OVC Male Track Athlete of the Week. Smith is the first Bulldog to earn the honor for the outdoor season, the third overall for Samford this season.

The Flower Mound, Tex., native won the men's 400-meter hurdles and came in fifth in the men's 110-meter hurdles at the Troy University Coach "O" Invitational. He also ran an 11.23 in the 100m dash and was a part of the 4x400 relay team that placed fourth with a time of 3:24.49.

Smith will join his this weekend as they travel to in-state rival Jacksonville State to participate in the JSU Springtime Invitational.
