Track And Field Opens 2006 Outdoor Season At Snowbird Invitational
March 2, 2006 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The Samford University track and field team heads to Tallahassee, Fla., on Friday for the FSU Snowbird Invitational on Friday and Saturday, hosted at Florida State's Mike Long Track. "We're taking a limited crew to Florida State for our first outdoor meet," said Samford head coach Glenn McWaters. "We're mainly taking our sprinters and jumpers. We're resting our distance runners and getting them ready for the start of the full season, which really starts for us with the Alabama Relays." Friday's field event competition will feature the women's hammer and javelin and the men's and women's long jump and discus. Runners will include the men's and women's 400-meter hurdles, distance medley relay, sprint medley relay, 5000 meters and the women's 3000 meters. Friday's events are slated to begin at 10 a.m. with the last event scheduled to begin at 7:30 pm. Saturday's events are set to begin at 10:30 a.m., with the last event scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
