Samford Track Begins Indoor Season With TSU Invitational

Feb. 1, 2008

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The Samford track and field team will open the indoor season Saturday as they participate in the Tennessee State Invitational in Nashville, Tenn. This event is the first indoor competition for the Bulldogs and the fourth for the Tigers as they look to get a preview of Ohio Valley Conference competition.

Samford's 2008 roster is led this season by four senior men (Drew Anderwald, Michael Hanson, Jon Londeen, Michael Smith) and three senior women (Lauren Blankenship, Kady Decker, Ciara Floyd). The veterans welcome 21 newcomers, one of the largest incoming classes the Bulldogs have ever had.

The Tennessee State Invitational is a small preview of the OVC Indoor Championships as the Tigers will be hosting the event this year Feb. 29 - March 1.

The event will be an all-day event. For a full recap and results, visit www.samfordsports.com.
